Day 59 - February 28, 2010

We pretty much manage to go to Costco every week. The kids love the weekends cause that is when they have multiple samples available to try. Here are the kids eating yogurt with cold milled flax seed mixed it.

Day 58 - February 27, 2010

Here are the kids eating some leftover cookies from Tiff's. We got 2 dozen plus some brownies (which were awesome) so we had quiet a bit leftover from Friday. I love how Susannah looks like she is winking or something.

Day 57 - February 26, 2010

Today we went to visit Daddy at work and surprised him with some fresh baked cookies from Tiff's Treats. You call in your order and when you go to pick them up, they are still hot. Yum! And thanks to Groupon.com, I got $20 worth of cookies for only $10. Here are the kids with Matt on the way out of his office.

Day 56 - February 25, 2010

Playing train is a popular game around these parts. The kids are sitting on little chairs behind Heath's larger Pottery Barn chair. They were just sitting there offering me their tickets when one of them decided to bounce their head off of the back of the chair. So that is what they are doing in this picture. Hitting their heads on the back of the chair. Good thing it is soft.

Day 55 - February 24, 2010

It seems like I have posted a couple of pix of the kids playing at the table. Susannah got several presents for Christmas and her birthday that have small pieces. And the best place for her to play with them is at the table. And, of course, if Susannah is at the table, Heath needs to be too so I try to distract him with his own toys at the table. The result is a lot of playing at the table.

Day 54 - February 23, 2010

Today we went on a field trip to a local fire station. After a short video on fire safety, the fireman allowed the children to run all over the station and check out the truck. They had a ton of fun. There was also an ambulance at the station. Susannah was sitting in the back of the ambulance when they received a 911 call. They kids were pretty excited to jump out of the back and see the ambulance race out of the station.

Day 53 - February 22, 2010

This morning I told Heath that he needed to sit up at the table to have his juicebox and bowl of cereal. I guess I wasn't clear enough as to which place he needed to sit. Instead of climbing up into his booster seat, he decided to drag over a little chair to the table to sit near Susannah. A lesson in semantics for Mommy.

Day 52 - February 21, 2010

Well, it has been a while since we've seen Laura Freeman so we were due for a dose of her amazing music. Here are the kids enjoying Laura Freeman and the Hey Lollies at Ruta Maya.

Day 51 - February 20, 2010

We had a great day today. We attended Sesame Street Live - 1-2-3 Imagine at the Frank Erwin Center on the UT campus. I admit that I was a hesitant that Heath might not be able to sit through a live show. But he did great. Heath loved it. He didn't fuss or fidget during the entire show. I couldn't believe it. And given the fact that the kids don't watch Sesame Street on TV, they were totally entertained. Anytime Elmo left the stage, Heath would yell "Elmo, come back." Susannah also loved the show and bopped around in her seat.

Day 50 - February 19, 2010

Gosh, today my kids gave me several opportunities for cute pictures. And in fact, Susannah has pointed out to me several times so far that an activities or moment would be a good picture for the blog. I have a picture of the eating chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast but I just had to use this one instead. We spent some time upstairs this afternoon cleaning and organizing. Then the kids decided that they wanted to play in Heath's bed. They were both under the covers snuggling up. As you can see from the expression on Heath's face, he was pretending to snore.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Day 49 - February 18, 2010

Here are the kids coloring. Heath is just starting to be able to do some of the things that his sister enjoys. He got crayons (Crayola Twistables that are harder to break) for Christmas.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Day 48 - February 17, 2010

We're back in Texas and Matt is home today, thankfully. We had a wonderful opportunity to see two rare baby lions at the Austin Zoo. The cubs are only 5 weeks old and zoo staff are only allowing them to be view on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 3-4pm. If Matt had been working, he would have missed it. They are so cute. You can see one of the cubs over Susannah's shoulder.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Day 47 - February 16, 2010

Here are the kids at the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina waiting for our flight. Heath scored big time cause right outside the window was the airport fire station. It didn't take long for Heath to spot the fire engine.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 46 - February 15, 2010

Another picture of the kids zoned out with the TV. But the best part of this picture is that they are watching the Weather Channel! Goes to show that kids will watch anything.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Day 45 - February 14, 2010

One of my favorite things about kids is how the silliest little things can keep them entertained. Susannah loved the big suitcase that we brought and was hiding it in. Heath, of course, wanted to join her and I ended up zipping Susannah into the suitcase and rolling her around the upstairs. Good, cheap fun.

Day 44 - February 13, 2010

Unfortunately, Aunt Maureen wasn't able to get off of work to join us in South Carolina. So the kids used Grandma Pat's computer to use the webcam to talk to her.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Day 43 - February 12, 2010

For the first time in many years, it snowed in South Carolina. It started in the middle of the day and continued until after sundown. While the kids had seen snow in New York, there is nothing like playing in snow as it is falling from the sky. Susannah, Heath and Matt played on the back deck with cousin Kathryn. They had a blast.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Day 42 - February 11, 2010

Today is the day that we headed to Chapin, South Carolina for Grandma Pat and Grandpa Joe's 50th wedding anniversary party. The kids were very excited to fly on a plane again. Susannah was busy coloring with markers and Heath was looking at a vehicle sticker book.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Day 41 - February 10, 2010

Shortly after breakfast, the kids needed something else to eat. Apples it was. For some reason unknown to me, they decided to eat them while rolling around and laying on the floor. They had a great time and all was well until Heath started to threw his apple around the kitchen and snack time was called to an end.

Day 40 - February 9, 2010

Today was Susannah's preschool birthday celebration (birthday circle as they call it). Matt, Heath and I all attended the beautiful ceremony. Susannah got to wear the birthday cape and crown and her teacher Denice told a magical story of how Susannah came to be part of our family. I might have cried except for my focus wasn't 100% on the ceremony as I was trying to make sure that Heath stayed in the circle room (he was trying to run out to go into the loft area). After the birthday circle, we had snack with the class. The birthday child gets to bring in a special snack - I made carrot, apple honey muffins with a brown sugar vanilla cream cheese frosting. It was a wonderful morning.

Monday, February 8, 2010

Day 39 - February 8, 2010

Happy 2nd Birthday Heath Maxwell! As all good big sisters do, here is Susannah helping Heath open his presents. This present is from Susannah. It's a Fisher Price Little People Castle. Heath has really been loving it today.

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Day 38 - February 7, 2010

We're having a nice Sunday at home. Susannah is using a Crayola art tote that she got from the Bentley's and Heath is lining up his trucks. This is a new habit that developed about a month ago.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 37 - February 6, 2010

Today was the kids joint birthday party at My Gym. They had a great time. Here they are with their cakes - dump truck for Heath and Ariel for Susannah. Turned out pretty good, if I say so myself.

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 36 - February 5, 2010

Here are the kids doing something that they love - watching TV.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 35 - February 4, 2010

Sometimes I wonder how many of the 365 pictures that I am going to take this year are going to involve reading. Those that know Susannah know that she is an avid reader. And Heath has been following in her footsteps over the last couple of months. Here is Susannah reading an American Girl catalog (yes, she considers it a book and I don't think that I can convince her otherwise. She loves looking at the pictures and having us read the blurbs about each doll). Heath is looking at a truck book, of course.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Day 34 - February 3, 2010

When it come to birthday parties, I try hard to give party favors that will be fun but not give our guests a lot of clutter. So this year, we created a CD of the kids favorite music from the year and giant sugar cookies. Shell cookies for the girls (to go with the Little Mermaid cake I am making for Susannah) and wheel cookies for the boys (to go with the dump truck cake I am making for Heath). Here are the kids helping to make the sugar cookie dough.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Day 33 - February 2, 2010

Happy 4th Birthday, Susannah Kimberly! Susannah had a nice day at school and we played at home this afternoon since Heath was feeling under the weather (he mostly likely has Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease). Here is the birthday girl opening her present from Heath, a puzzle.

Day 32 - February 1, 2010

At first it might have seemed crazy to spend $19.99 on a cardboard house. I mean, it is just cardboard, why pay for it? But, seriously, this cardboard house has been the best play toy for the kids. It is plain white so they can color all over it. It has doors, windows and even a mailbox. Here are the kids peeking out of the windows.
