Day 181 - June 30, 2010

Here are the kids having a birthday party. I don't exactly remember whose party it was but they were both singing away. See that extra arm on the side? That's my friend Shari's son Jack who was joining in on the singing.

Day 180 - June 29, 2010

The kids have really been into puzzles lately. A couple of weeks ago, a friend gave us some vehicle puzzles and it rekindled the kids interest in puzzles.

Day 179 - June 28, 2010

Here are the kids riding "horses" and having a snack. Heath's horse is a baseball bat and Susannah's horse is a broom.

Day 178 - June 27, 2010

We went to Krause Springs today for a family adventure of swimming. Unfortunately, the picture that I took of the kids was too hard. I hadn't realized that my flash didn't go off. So I grabbed a quick picture of the kids enjoying popicles on the porch after riding their bikes in the driveway. Heath declared that popicles are messy. Yes, son, they are. That is why you are eating them outside :)

Day 177 - June 26, 2010

Here's a silly picture of the kids. Originally, Heath and Susannah were laying on the floor with their butts up in the air pretending to take a nap. But when I came over with the camera, they both moved and I couldn't get the shot. Susannah looks really happy in this picture so it was a nice replacement shot.

Day 176 - June 25, 2010

I think that the kiddie pool is going to be our new home for the next couple of months. The kids really enjoy splashing around in it. It was around 97 degrees today so I am thankful for the tiny amount of tree shade that we have. In the shade, it didn't feel as hot.

Day 175 - June 24, 2010

Susannah did this to Heath a couple of days ago but I couldn't get a good picture of it. She was doing it again today and I just had to try to get a picture because it is so cute. Susannah is holding a water pen that goes along with an Aquadoodle pad. She is pretending that the water pen is makeup. She was applying it to her face as blush and on her fingernails and toenails as nail polish. Heath saw what she was doing and immediately sat down, took off his socks and started to request that she paint his toenail as well. It was very sweet.

Day 174 - June 23, 2010

Summer has already officially started but it has been hot here in Texas for a while. This seemed like the quintessential summer activity - eating watermelon outside and playing in the kiddie pool (which I set up after I got this picture).

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Day 173 - June 22, 2010

Here are the kids playing in a tunnel. They were sitting in the bottom of it while it was upright.

Monday, June 21, 2010

Day 172 - June 21, 2010

Here are the kids having an afternoon snack of applesauce.

Day 171 - June 20, 2010

Happy Father's Day Matt! We're so lucky to have such a wonderful father in our family.

Since it is father's day, we spent a lot of time together and I got several cute and fun pictures of the kids. It was almost hard to choice. But this picture has the best background story so it was the clear winner. The kids recently received a packet of thin markers. Susannah, of course at 4 1/2, is an expert marker user. Heath, however, not so much. He has only ever used the ColorWonder ones before. Yesterday was the first time that the kids used the markers and Heath did write all over his hands. So I should have known better and the same thing happened today. I suspect that the reason the kids had marker on their faces was because the package of markers came with 5 scented one. It is easy to get marker on your nose when you're sniffing it. The best part of the story was that I didn't realize at the time that I took this picture but Heath has stuck several different makers in his ears. Yup, that's right. Marker in the ear and not just one the outside. It was deep in the ear canal and he used several different colors. At least they are washable. Couple of wet cotton swabs later and all the blue and brown marker was removed from his ear canal. I guess we need to watch him more closely with markers in the future.

Day 170 - June 19, 2010

One nice thing about the open layout of our house is that the kids have plenty of room to ride their bikes around the house. At least one has a helmet one.

Friday, June 18, 2010

Day 169 - June 18, 2010

Here is Susannah reading a book to Heath.

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Day 168 - June 17, 2010

Here are the kids playing musical chairs around a diaper box. And, yes, Susannah is licking a 1/2 a lime.

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Day 167 - June 16, 2010

Joseph is a huge history buff and being so close to the Alamo, we took a trip down to San Antonio so he could see the site. It was a hot and humid day but we were able to find a bit of shade for a picnic lunch. Here is Matt and the kids over looking the fish pond.

Day 166 - June 15, 2010

Joe, Trish, Joseph and Katie arrived in Austin today on their way from Virginia to their new home in Arizona. The kids were excited to eat in the dining room as we didn't have enough room in our eat-in-kitchen area.

Monday, June 14, 2010

Day 165 - June 14, 2010

Well, today is my birthday. Welcome to 36! Thankfully, I don't feel older as I already feel old enough. Here are the kids singing Happy Birthday to me over my Amy's Ice Creams Reese's ice cream cake. It was delicious.

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Day 164 - June 13, 2010

Typically, we drive around in the Subaru Forrester aka the Mommy-mobile. But sometimes we move the car seats (well, just Heath's since Susannah has a 2nd seat in Matt's car since he drives her to preschool in the mornings) to Matt's car. Riding in Daddy's car is a lot of fun for the kids and they get very excited by the novelty of it all.

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Day 163 - June 12, 2010

For some reason, according to Heath, the Kermit the Frog stuff animal had bitten Daddy on the butt. So the kids were setting the timer on the kitchen set microwave for Kermit't time out. When the game was over, Kermit ended up having 3 time outs. Naughty Kermit.

Day 162 - June 11, 2010

We left Rockport today. We had a great time and were sad to leave. Here are the kids on the steps up to the house. Unfortunately, my lens was fogged over. Darn humidity.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Day 161 - June 10, 2010

More fun times at the beach. We had beautiful weather although it was a bit windy.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Day 160 - June 9, 2010

Here are the kids and Matt playing at the beach.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Day 159 - June 8, 2010

Today we headed to Rockport, Texas for our first ever family vacation. Rockport is about 3 1/2 hours from Austin. The kids did great in the car this morning. We spent the afternoon at the beach. After we ordered in pizza for dinner, we headed up to the roof top deck of the house that we rented for popsicle.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Day 158 - June 7, 2010

My kids are not lovers of bandages for boo-boos. But ice packs? Yea, they are all about that. Any minor bump or bruise requires an ice pack. Heath bumped his foot upstairs and needed an ice pack about 30 minutes later. Monkey see, monkey do and Susannah needed one too. We only have one fun ice pack (a pink kitty) so Heath had that one while Susannah used one of her lunch ice packs for her pretend boo-boo.

Sunday, June 6, 2010

Day 157 - June 6, 2010

Sunday is typically our family adventure day. Since we're headed out to the beach on Tuesday and it's a 3 1/2 hour drive, we decided to take a local adventure today so the kids didn't have too much car time before the trip. We headed to the Austin Botanical Gardens. It was very hot and humid this morning but looking at the fish ponds cooled us off.

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Day 156 - June 5, 2010

Here are the kids playing a silly game. Heath had the Mr. Potato Head all mixed up with arms sticking out all over the place and Susannah was trying to rip them out of his body. Both kids thought it was a hysterical game.

Friday, June 4, 2010

Day 155 - June 4, 2010

We stayed home most of the day today. The kids had their well-child check ups yesterday and both received several shots. They were pretty fussy and Susannah had a slight temperature. However, I am lucky to have children that, despite not feeling well, still manage to play nicely together. Here they are playing trucks on Heath's car rug.

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Day 154 - June 3, 2010

Grandma Kathy gave Heath a very cute set of tool shaped books in a little toolbelt. Heath has been enjoying them and was asking Susannah this morning to read them to him. Thankfully, Susannah still is amazing at memorizing books and was able to read 3 of the 4 to Heath. The 4th book she had never heard so she couldn't read that one.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Day 153 - June 2, 2010

Here are the kids pretending to sit in a firetruck made of the living room couch pillows.

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Day 152 - June 1, 2010

So there is a favorite game of the kids when they are swinging called "Grab Susannah". Heath tries to reach out and grab Susannah while she is swinging. They both think that it is pretty funny and laugh hysterically.
