The lunches that I prepare for the kids tend to be pretty boring and I almost always use the same things in different rotations. But today I thought of something clever and the kids loved it. It's banana dogs. I took a hot dog bun and put a little bit of peanut butter on it before adding a banana. Messy (mostly for Heath who was just licking the PB) but the kids really liked it.

Day 297 - October 24, 2010

It's been a very long time since we've taken a walk with the kids in the stroller - they usually just walk now. But they wanted to ride in the stroller today. Heath was happy to pose for this picture but clearly Susannah wasn't. This is not a fake pout.

Day 295 - October 22, 2010

I try to steer the kids away from games where they are crashing bikes/cars into each other. Most times I succeed in distracting them from it but not today. I love the look on Heath's face and Susannah is roaring at me (she's getting sick of me taking their picture every day).

Day 294 - October 21, 2010

Here are the kids at a pumpkin patch at the local grass/gravel/dirt retailer. I had no idea that they did a pumpkin patch and for $2.50 is was a pretty good deal. Lots of Halloween decorations, a pie pumpkin, hay maze and a treat bag. Sweet.

Day 293 - October 20, 2010

A Legos catalog came in the mail recently and it has been come a favorite "book" for the kids. Here they are checking it out and Susannah is pretending to barf. Nice, I know.

Day 292 - October 19, 2010

We met a friend and her two kids at the park this morning. It was a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed running around. But, as usual, most of Susannah's time was spent on the swings. She is an expert swinger. See how high she is?

Day 291 - October 18, 2010

Susannah has always been an absolute book lover. From just a couple of months old, she was interested in looking at books and having them read to her. Heath, on the other hand, wasn't as interested. He was a little but would have rather played with trucks and cars. But now the tide has changed. Heath has started to get very interested in books and spends time every day looking at them. He even has a couple of books memorized.

Day 290 - October 17, 2010

After seeing Laura Freeman and the Hey Lollies at Ruta Maya Coffeehouse this morning, Heath request that we go to Super Salad for lunch. Man, my kids love that place.

In honor of Michael visiting us this weekend, we had a cookout. It was a blast and I was happy for the opportunity to show off our new patio. Here are the kids running around the yard.

Day 288 - October 15, 2010

Today was a great day. Not only did our friend Michael come into town for the weekend but we also got another change to visit the Little Buckaroo Ranch. Man, the kids love this place. And it was great cause Matt and Michael were able to come along. Here are the kids petting a rabbit.

Day 287 - October 14, 2010

When Susannah woke up this morning, she wasn't quite ready to start the day so she was resting on the couch. Heath, the ever loving brother that he is, came over to her to sing her some songs. Talk about sweet.

Our local library branch was hosting a puppet show to the classic children's book, Strega Nona. Susannah recently received this book and we were all very excited for the puppet show. Here are the kids waiting outside the venue for the show to start.

Day 285 - October 12, 2010

The kids had a wonderful time this afternoon on the porch. Susannah was sporting her fairy wings and Heath was about to work on his beloved puzzle.

Day 284 - October 11, 2010

Recently Heath has gotten very into puzzles. He was very patient today while we were running errands so I decided to get him a new puzzle at the store. Heath is very excited and worked on it several times and was even able to do it all by himself. Here is Heath showing Susannah his new puzzle.

Day 283 - October 10, 2010

This afternoon, we attended a birthday party for a little girl from Susannah's school. It was great cause it was at the local park and siblings were invited too. Susannah spent the entire time swinging - first the baby swings and then she moved on to the regular swings. Heath went on the swings for a bit but was more interested in hunting down some snacks.

Day 282 - October 9, 2010

Honestly, you can never have too much pumpkin patch fun. So we went to another one today - this time was the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm Pumpkin Patch. You take a tractor hay ride around the farm to different areas with fun things to do. At this stop, the kids got a fun train ride in barrels pulled by a lawn mower. They had a blast.

Susannah to the rescue again. Heath needed help with a puzzle and Susannah is always willing to lend him a hand.

Day 280 - October 7, 2010

We took a trip out to Marble Falls today to visit Sweetberry Farms. The kids had a great time - corn maze, feeding goats, flower picking and a hay ride.

Here are the kids playing with Heath's truck mat. Typically, Heath just lines up the trucks and cars on the mat but today both kids were actually driving the cars on the roads and parking them in the parking spaces.

The first Saturday of the month is Kids Workshop day at Home Depot. Heath usually doesn't participate since he is a bit young for it but the project was a fire boat, so of course, he had to do it (Mommy helped).
